Design, hardware, and packaging contents
With Q Revo, Roborock took a different design approach to the base station, making it taller and narrower than its flagship product. This station is very similar to the one on the Dreametech L10s Ultra in that both water tanks are on top, but the Roborock model doesn’t have a cover or flap to hide them. The dust bag is located directly below a special compartment closed by a removable front panel.
The docking area itself is also used for cleaning and drying the mop pad. However, unlike Roborock’s flagship model, the Q Revo does not use a special brush to clean the mop. Instead, use a plastic knob to rub against the pad as it rotates within the station. This is the main difference with the Roborock S series. Q Revo omits a more thorough mopping solution to minimize costs.
The robot itself has a generic appearance, with a round face and standard dimensions of approximately 13.9 x 13.8 x 3.8 inches. The LiDAR dome is top-mounted but short enough to fit under most furniture. Roborock includes two quick access buttons on the top and a discreet flap that covers access to the dustbin and HEPA filter, so you don’t have to turn the robot upside down.
Luckily, you won’t have to do this often, as an automatic dumping station will take care of the contents of your bin. The underside is also similar to what you’ll find on higher-end products from Dreamech and his Ecovacs, with two rotating mop pads, one bristle-free brush roll, side brushes, sensors, and wheels. The Q Revo features an infrared obstacle detection feature that Roborock calls Reactive Tech. This is the same technology as the S7 Max Ultra and works without an RGB camera. To prevent the vacuum cleaner from hitting furniture or walls, there are sensors on the front and back to better detect and avoid obstacles.
Another difference between the Q Revo and Roborock’s flagship product is their build quality. Indeed, the midranger uses less premium materials, with easily scratchable plastics and a loose bumping board. Despite this, the Q Revo remains a solidly built vacuum that should last over time.
As for what’s inside the box, there’s not much inside other than the robot, docking station, and an extra dust bag. Despite its mid-range positioning, the Q Revo still costs $900, and even including some consumables and even a brush to clean the dock, it certainly wouldn’t have cost that much .
Setup, software, and features
Together with Dreametech, Roborock has one of the most complete apps on the smart vacuum market. It allows you to customize your robot and cleaning preferences to the fullest, including the vacuuming power, mop dampness, mop cleaning intensity, drying duration, self-emptying frequency, and much more.
Q Revo is equipped with Reactive Tech obstacle detection, which allows you to see where obstacles are detected by marking them on the map. This technology also makes it possible to detect carpets and decide whether to raise the mop pad or avoid it completely. You can also schedule off-peak charging times to save costs and reduce strain on the power grid.
As far as mapping goes, Q Revo creates a map of your home on the first pass. Rooms can then be combined, split, or renamed to create no-go zones or virtual walls. You can also add virtual furniture, set a specific cleaning order, and customize cleaning settings for each room.
This means you can control the suction power and moisture of the mop pad and have different settings depending on the room. As usual with Roborock, the app can manage up to four cards and automatically position and detect which cards to use. This is especially useful if you live in a multi-storey house.
Cleaning efficiency and battery life
Q Revo has a strong suction power of 5,500Pa, which is relatively rare for an intermediate model while there are many models with 3,000 to 4,000Pa. It offers 5 suction modes from quietest to max.
This allows you to efficiently clean any surface, including tiles, hardwood floors, and even carpets. Bristleless brushes are great for cleaning grout lines and collecting dirt without getting tangled in hair. This robot does an excellent job on carpets, especially low pile carpets, thanks to its strong suction power and automatic boost mode that controls suction power in real time.
The Roborock Q Revo’s 5,200mAh battery lasts about 140 minutes on average with settings that prioritize cleaning over battery life. This is enough to clean approximately 1,350 square feet. If you need more, Q Revo automatically returns to the docking station once charged and you can resume your tasks.
Maintenance and care
The Q Revo is said to offer the same level of autonomy as the flagship model, allowing you to vacuum and mop floors without manual intervention. Two large water tanks (5L for the clean tank and 4.2L for the dirty tank) are used to clean the mop pad and collect dirty water after each wash cycle. The 2.7 liter bag also removes dirt and dust as well. This means that human intervention is usually required to refill and empty the bag. With better performance and higher water consumption settings,
Q Revo was able to clean approximately 1,000 square feet. More economical models can successfully clean 1,500 to 2,000 square feet without refilling the fresh water tank.
Should you buy it?
If you’re looking for a fully autonomous robot that can autonomously vacuum and mop your floors for less than $10,000, consider the Q Revo. It is a highly recommended option due to its excellent cleaning performance and excellent obstacle detection capabilities. However, to lower the price, Roborock had to sacrifice some features, such as the more advanced VibraRise mop and the advanced self-cleaning mop.
If you’re looking for even better cleaning performance, consider the S series from brands like the S7 Max Ultra, or the S8 Pro Ultra, which has a sonic mop that cleans with a flap and a special brush. With these features, the double brush roller and wiping vibration module further improve suction power and wiping performance.
