Igloo Sport Sipper Bottle

The Igloo Sport Sipper Bottle ($20) is evidence that cutting costs need not imply settling for poor goods. Since the company has consistently made quality coolers for 75 years, it is not unexpected that their excursion into insulated bottles resulted in a hit.

PROS

  • Budget price
  • Rubberized bottle stays put
  • Flattened edge on bottle improves grip and lines up straw

CONS

  • Bail handle is a bit loose

The Sport Sipper boasts cold retention of up to 24 hours and hot beverage retention of up to 6 hours, claims that we were able to verify in our own tests thanks to its sturdy stainless steel double wall construction. Not bad for only spending $20 of your own money.

The Sport Sipper bottles have a generally rounded external contour and a flattened border around the front of the bottle for your thumb. This not only strengthens your grasp but also lines up the straw for easy access. Smart.

The straw is simple to flip up, and the rubberized bottom helps keep the crucial side downward. Despite being useful, the bail-style handle we used seemed a little flimsy (and despite our best fixer attempts, no tightening of the hex screws would make it better). We don’t think it’s a deal breaker, but it is something to consider when carrying the bottle.
