Even though looks might not be your top concern when buying a dustbuster, BLACK+DECKER’s handheld vacuum is a stylish gadget. It is sleek and contemporary-looking, with a color scheme of blue, white, and dark gray, as well as a transparent dust cup that lets you see how much debris has been collected. All of this is to say that it shouldn’t be too unsightly if you’re forced to mount it in a busy area.
This dustbuster is easy to use and empty. You only need to charge it before your first use because it comes fully assembled. (A battery can go from dead to full in about 10 hours.) Two switches are located on the vacuum: one turns it on and off, and the other opens the front nozzle so you can empty it into the trash. Fortunately, the 31.8-ounce dust cup is quite roomy, so you can use it for a few cycles before stopping to empty it. The filter can also be taken out and cleaned in warm, soapy water.
After prolonged use, if you see it needs a little TLC, you can remove caked-on dust by scrubbing the filter with an old toothbrush. Also available are replacement filters, which cost about $13 for a pack of four.
We only wished the device had an indicator light as one minor feature. The vacuum can’t tell when it’s fully charged or about to run out of power as it currently stands. The layout is logical otherwise.
Extra Features
Two attachment tools that can be put right into the nozzle of the dustbuster increase the BLACK+DECKER’s adaptability. The crevice tool is perfect for getting into small spaces, such as corners of the ceiling, under furniture, and spaces between seat cushions. The brush attachment can then be used on upholstery or in areas that are covered in lint, sand, or dust.
The accompanying wall mount, which enables easy access and space-saving storage, is another small but useful accessory. Make sure to mount the dustbuster close to an outlet so the vacuum can recharge in between uses. It has a built-in lip that slides onto the mount.
Performance: Effective and powerful
This useful tool is unquestionably effective. In our testing, it effortlessly sucked up dirt, pet hair, cereal, stray kibble, and kicked-out kitty litter in addition to other particles of all sizes. It easily fits in and under tight spaces thanks to its angled nozzle, and two extra attachments—a crevice tool and a brush tool—increase its adaptability.
The dustbuster does a respectable job on low-pile carpets, though it undoubtedly performed best in non-carpeted areas. After making a few passes with the brush attachment, we discovered that the clean was at its best. Overall, the absence of cords to tangle with makes the vacuum by far the best feature.
Battery Life: Could be better
The dustbuster from BLACK+DECKER can operate continuously for 12 to 15 minutes before running out of steam. This is sufficient for small tasks like cleaning up cereal spills, but it is insufficient for larger tasks like cleaning your entire SUV. We found that it failed at precisely 12 minutes after we had used it for the later. Even though we would prefer a longer battery life, we value that it is cordless and is simple to charge with the jack plug charger and wall mount that are both included.
Price: A wallet-friendly purchase
The cordless dustbuster from BLACK+DECKER costs $42 at retail. Power, adaptability, and cord-free use are worth that small cost. Families with young children or those with messy pets, in our opinion, would benefit most from the vacuum, but anyone who wants to maintain a clean home will undoubtedly find it useful.
